Berlin – PietroItalia

After flying to Italy forty-three times, and having the time of our lives, we decided it was time to look for a new destination. But where? We were familiar with France, London, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland and Greece, all great places, but not new and unexplored in our experience. It was a surprise when my wife said, “let’s go to Berlin.’’ I resisted at first but relented when someone said, “Pietro, you’re an artist, you must go to Berlin.” So, eight years ago, after our annual trip to Montepulciano and Rome, we booked a flight to Berlin for a short exploratory visit. From the moment we stepped off the plane, I knew we had found our place. It reminded me of the exhilaration we felt when we arrived in Rome years ago. A deep sense of mystery and belonging washed over us, as if we had been there before. The people were very friendly, eager to speak English, and our new favorite city had marvelous Italian restaurants. The next year, when we were back in Italy, I sheepishly asked one of our Italian friends what he thought of Berlin, making it clear I was a bit embarrassed to even ask the question. “But Pietro, he began, everyone in Europe knows that Berlin is the most vibrant and happening city to visit!” I hope you will enjoy the recommendations below.
